And familyflavorrecipes is my little corner of the internet!
I launched familyflavorrecipes back in 2015 while I was still teaching fourth‑grade math at a school in Asheville, North Carolina. Between grading papers and chasing my two toddlers, I started jotting down the quick, kid‑friendly meals that kept our hungry crew fed. The first post—a simple one‑pot chicken and rice—was a 5‑minute write‑up on a spare laptop in the school staff lounge. I never imagined that a few humble recipes would turn into a full‑time adventure.
Fast forward to today, and the site reaches about 48,000 unique visitors each month. I’ve published over 380 recipes, ranging from “Grandma’s Apple Pie” to “Vegan Taco Tuesday.” In 2020 I added a weekly newsletter that now boasts 13,200 subscribers, and the community has grown to include a Facebook group where members share their own twists on my dishes. In March 2024 I hit a milestone: 10,000 recipe downloads from the free PDF bundle I released for the first time. Those numbers keep me motivated to test, write, and share more meals that feel like home.
When I’m not in the kitchen, you’ll find me hiking the Blue Ridge Mountains with my husband Mark and our kids, Lily (7) and Noah (5). Our backyard garden is a patchwork of tomatoes, basil, and the occasional stray zucchini that sneaks into dinner. Sunday mornings are sacred—Mark flips pancakes while I brew coffee and the kids argue over who gets the first bite. I love a good old‑fashioned mason‑jar salad, a well‑worn cookbook, and the sound of a skillet sizzling on the stove. Those simple pleasures are the flavor behind every post you see here.
